Pond Liner
Tens of thousands of ponds have been
built in the UK using butyl rubber liners; this has now become prohibitively
expensive. An excellent alternative is our eco rubber liner. It looks and feels
just like butyl, it wont breakdown in sunlight, its as strong as butyl and the
same thickness (0.75mm) and its easy to lay and has a lifetime guarantee.
Avoid thicker liners and PVC as these do
not mould to the pond shape easily.
Traditionally red sand has been used
under liners to prevent puncturing, this however is heavy, hard work and it all
ends up in the bottom. Roll out our underlay and nothing will penetrate it
grey in colour and a high density of 260gsm and its easy to lay and cut
E mail us for a sample of eco rubber
and underlay
Choosing the size
Choose your area - preferably in a sunny spot
Mark out the shape using a rope or hose pipe Measure the maximum length and
the maximum width
For garden and wildlife ponds a depth of 45 60cm (18-24) is deep enough
Use the calculator for Liner size = (length + twice the depth) and (width + twice
the depth)
Construction
Building a pond using eco rubber liner
is easy when you follow a few simple steps;-
Slope the sides at 30 degrees
Where you want to grow marginal plants make a shelf or area at least 30cm(12)
wide and 20cm (8) deep, (slope it slightly backwards to stop plants sliding
into the pond).
Make the top of the pond level using a spirit level or water level
Smooth the sides and bottom out using soil or a little sand
Lay the underlay, allowing 10cm (4) overlap on each strip
Drape the liner into the hole, making sure it is central
Start filling with water
Where there are creases fold these into pleats and place a weight on it, do this
all round the pond.
As the pond fills let the liner loose so it touches the sides
Do not stretch the liner
When full, trim off surplus liner leaving a 10-15cm (4-6) strip all round
Finish off with paving, stone or other material, cement wont damage eco rubber

Eco Rubber Pond Liner
looks exactly like butyl and feels identical and also has a lifetime
guarantee. We have no hesitation in recommending Eco rubber for any size of
pond. |
Polyfelt
Pond Liner Underlay
These geo-textiles offer exceptionally high performance and provide a highly
effective protective barrier between substrate and liner.
